Japan: You need to visit at least once, and not for tourist spots

Japan is an amazing place to visit. This country offers many unique experiences which you won’t find anywhere else. But this article is not about that. Its more about what can you learn from them, during your visit –

A spirit of rebuilding

Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, nuclear bombings have marred the history of Japan. The people have endured a lot. But their fighter spirit is something the world should talk about. They have completely rebuilt buildings, blocks and even entire cities.

Cleanliness

The Japanese carry their rubbish with them until they reach home or a place that might have a dustbin. In Japan, children are taught from a very young age to keep their surroundings neat and clean. The students themselves clean their schools and a video of them doing that has amazed millions of people around the globe.

Good manners

Manners matter, so smiling, being polite and thanking people is mandatory when asking locals for directions. Proper manners, consideration towards others, being respectful are highly valued in the Japanese culture. If you are travelling by their highly efficient train systems, you will witness ticket inspectors bowing to the carriage before checking tickets as well as the cleaners bowing to the carriage, as a mark of respect.

trust

It is said that you can never lose a thing in Japan, most lost items usually find the their way back to the owner. There are 100s of vending machines on the streets with glass covers and no one breaks in! Everyone pays and takes goods.

Time keeping

Honouring time commitment to the last second. Japanese are obsessed with punctuality and you will often find them arriving 10-15minutes before schedule. Aplogising for delays is understandable, but there have been cases when rail operators have apologised for early departures by 20secs.

Hold on to the culture

Japan has leaned on its own culture. Their day to day activities are intricately bound with social customs and traditions. Be it the food etiquette or the tea ceremony, taking off shoes or bowing, Japan has maintained it’s unique culture and traditions through time.
